Stoney Knows How

Hung out at Shamrock for a few hours yesterday and got to see Rick Walters tattoo in person for the first time which inspired me to post this. Watch and learn people.

Warning: Shameless Plug

My band, Dr. Nüdel played a show last friday, here is a video of one of the songs. The audio is pretty decent but not great, still captures the good vibes in my opinion. Check it out!

Well, I guess you could consider this my first music rant.

I will be the first to admit I know very little about this particular music scene and I am sure this dude is good at what he does and has a firmer grasp on how music works than I do. With that said, this video makes me sad. What the hell happened to analog music? Where are the people who puts days, weeks, months into making shit happen on instruments with strings or skins and what not. I am not trying to say the computer is not an instrument, some of these people are geniuses at what they do. I guess my biggest problem isn’t necessarily the music but the scene itself. From what I can tell the mentality of these shows is to get as fucked up as possible and listen to music that makes your brain feel like jello. When it comes down to it, if you’re stoked on your music then thats awesome, who am I to talk shit on what you like. However, everytime I hear people talk about this type of music as if it’s our generations rock n’ roll and how it’s the best thing since sliced bread, my faith in humanity fades.

*Disclaimer: I don’t hate all electronic music, I just happen to think the kind in this video sucks.

It is most of my friends last semester at school so we decided that this will be the semester of adventures. We decided to start it off by heading to El Mirage dry lake bed. It’s basically an endless, perfectly flat playground. We assembled the troops, got some beer, fried chicken, loaded up the bike and we headed out. It ended up being an amazing day of hanging out and admiring the desert. If you get the chance, go there! It was some of the most fun I’ve had in a while. Also check out itsbetterinthewind.com because thats where I got the idea to trek out there in the first place.
